NFL media makes their picks, and final score predictions on the Dolphins vs. Seahawks.
The Miami Dolphins have officially entered the Skylar Thompson era, at least for the next month. Last week on Thursday Night Football, franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game in the third quarter with his third documented concussion since 2022.
Tagovailoa has since been placed on Injured Reserve for the next month to serve out his injury without the pressure of returning too early.
So here we are.
The Dolphins will now travel up to the northwest corner of the country to take on the Seattle Seahawks with Thompson at the helm. Miami (+4) is an underdog understandably, with Vegas projecting a low combined total score of O/U 41.5.
I also see a low-scoring game with the Dolphins on the losing end. I have to see it to believe it with Skylar Thompson, and I’m not there yet. It feels like most of the football world agrees, and these predictions from the most respected media support that.

Miami will lean heavily on their offensive weapons, trying not to put too much on Thompson’s plate to mitigate turnovers. Thompson can use his legs better than Tagovailoa, and he presents that threat and creates from broken plays. He has to have the confidence to let it go.
Thompson beat out Mike White in the preseason, and his last time starting for the Dolphins wasn’t that bad against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the 2022 playoffs. We all know what the Bills do to the Dolphins regularly, so Thompson having a solid start against them should inspire some hope.
Seattle, on the other hand, is plagued with injuries, and cruised to a 2-0 start. Geno Smith is off to a hot start, and they have some firepower of their own on the outside. They’re solid on both sides of the ball and if the Dolphins don’t come out with urgency, it could be a long day.
The Dolphins defense is going to need to be the best unit of the game for Miami to win this game. It’s a tall task, but it’s time for the defense to be the engine while Tagovailoa is on the shelf.
My prediction for this game is Seahawks 24, Dolphins 17, but I hope the Dolphins show up and prove me wrong.
