This line seems likely to shift.
The Philadelphia Eagles originally opened as 2.5-point road favorites against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
That was before the Eagles choked and lost to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.
The Birds are now 1.5-point underdogs to the Saints, according to FanDuel.
Honestly, it’s surprising that the Saints aren’t favored by more. And I feel like I’m not just saying that as an overreaction to the Eagles’ bad loss.
The Saints’ offense has basically been unstoppable through two games, producing 91 points combined in wins over the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak clearly has that operation clicking.
It’s not easy to believe in the Eagles going down to the Superdome and suddenly stifling that offense. Not with how they’ve been so vulnerable on the ground (315 rushing yards allowed on 49 attempts, 6.4 average). Or with how they’ve been unable to generate pressure.
The Eagles’ offense will likely be tasked with winning in a shootout. And with A.J. Brown apparently set to miss at least one more game, that much will be easier said than done.
This just isn’t a good spot for the Eagles coming off a deflating loss and playing on short rest. Taking the Saints feels too easy. One would imagine the line will only increase in their favor as this week goes along.
What say you?
