Patrick Johnson joins the Giants
The New York Giants finally have a full 53-man roster.
Earlier on Tuesday we learned that the Giants had signed veteran placekicker Greg Joseph off the Detroit Lions practice squad to replace the injured Graham Gano. The Giants announced Tuesday afternoon that Gano has been placed on IR.
The Giants also announced Tuesday afternoon that they have claimed linebacker Patrick Johnson off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 26-year-old Johnson was a seventh-round pick by the Eagles in 2021. He has played in 49 regular season games with two starts for the Eagles.
Linebacker has been a bit of a revolving door for the Giants. They lost practice squad linebacker Carter Coughlin, who had been elevated to the active roster Week 1, to a pectoral injury. Curtis Bolton has been on and off the roster. Micah McFadden and Darius Muasau have each missed a game already. Ty Summers has been elevated from the practice squad for each of the first two games.
