Can former Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris lead Falcons to an upset over Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 2 of the NFL season. The Eagles are coming off of an impressive win in Brazil while the Falcons had a disappointing opener at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While the Eagles got a big win against the Packers in Week 1 and looked like the team that most remember from last year, they will be without AJ Brown on Monday Night. Brown has an injured hamstring and will not play which could have a huge impact on the effectiveness of the offense. With that said, Saquon Barkley had a strong debut rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side, the Falcons failed to get much going against the Steelers. Bijan Robinson averaged 3.8 yards per carry and the Falcons were shutout in the second half. Led by former Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, the Falcons need a win to stay afloat in the NFC South. Both the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-0 to start the season.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are 5.5 point favorites at home. On initial glance, it seems like the Eagles should be able to cover that line and win by a touchdown. However, without AJ Brown, that could have an impact on the Eagles offense. This could also be a game that Kirk Cousins is able to get going and connect with both Drake London and Kyle Pitts. While I still expect the Eagles to win, I’m picking the Falcons to cover.
The Pick: Falcons (+5.5)
Season Record: 3-2
