Colts-Bears opening odds: Colts get the nod as a 1.5-point favorite

The Colts are coming off a dreadful performance but are favored at home.

The Indianapolis Colts are set to take on the Chicago Bears from Lucas Oil Stadium in week three of the NFL season. While this isn’t a rivalry per say, this border battle is sure to bring in a lot of Bears fans on Sunday. These teams play once every four years and once every eight in Indiana. Both teams haven’t looked perfect out of the gate, so FanDuel Sportsbook sees this contest as a close one, giving the Colts a 1.5-point advantage in the spread.

The money line sits at -120 and the over/under is at 45.5.

What can you say about the Colts on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers other than it was a trainwreck from start to finish? All three phases struggled to do anything positive. From horrible run defense to inconsistent drives and missed opportunities. Throw in a missed field goal to top it all off. It was hard to watch. The cherry on top is that DeForest Buckner might be missing some serious time. Whatever happened against the Packers can’t happen again if the Colts want to win a game this year. They need to take this week to seriously clean some things up.

Meanwhile, Caleb Williams and the Bears aren’t getting off to the start they had hoped and imagined. Yes, they are 1-1 but part of that is thanks to the Will Levis experience. The Bears faced off against the Houston Texans who we know are no slouch. Nevertheless, Williams has yet to throw a touchdown in two outings, and his stat line has left something to be desired. He tallied 93 yards in the opener with a 55.7 rating and followed that up with 174 yards, 2 interceptions, 7 sacks, and a 51.0 rating. He is a rookie, so I will give him a pass. That is why the Colts are fortunate to see him early before he can put it all together.

Both teams are coming in with major flaws and areas of improvement. Being at home will serve the Colts well, and if they want any chance of making this a season, they need to win on Sunday. Bears fans will flood LOS, so they better be prepared for that. I think the coaching staff will have the team better prepared in this one. I am not sure how they couldn’t. Let the battle begin between the Colts and the Bears.
