The 49ers will be without Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey
The Los Angeles Rams have their own set of well-documented injury problems going into Week 3, including potential injury reserve stints for Cooper Kupp, Jonah Jackson, and John Johnson in the coming days, which would add to a list that already includes Darious Williams, Steve Avila, Joe Noteboom, and Puka Nacua, but the San Francisco 49ers can somewhat relate.
First the 49ers got the shocking and unfortunate news the first round receiver Ricky Pearsall had been shot and would miss at least the first part of his rookie season, then Christian McCaffrey surprisingly landed on IR without warning, and now the team is expected to be without Deebo Samuel for at least two games. That includes Week 3’s contest against the Rams.

Those are two of the five most important players around quarterback Brock Purdy, plus Pearsall, who at least could have helped without Samuel out for the time being. The 49ers have played their first two games without safety Talanoa Hufanga and his status for Week 3 remains up in the air.
On the bright side: Kyle Shanahan is hoping that safety Talanoa Hufanga (ACL) could make his 2024 season debut this Sunday against the Rams. #49ers

Times like this feel dire for Rams fans at 0-2 and without so many key players. The 49ers also aren’t going into this game as a complete whole unit, however.
