Bills are 7-0 on Thursday Night Football in the Josh Allen era
Quarterback Josh Allen has seen plenty of winning in his time with the Bills, but on Thursdays, he and the team take their play up a notch.
Head coach Sean McDermott saw just one Thursday night game before Allen arrived: a battle with the Jets in 2017 which they lost. But, since Allen arrived in 2018, they’ve been perfect.
Here is a chronological synopsis of the seven consecutive Thursday night victories:

This win on Thanksgiving in 2019 was recognized by some as the “Josh Allen coming out party.” The famous 4th & 1 conversion after bobbling the snap still lives in the head of many Bills fans as the moment the Bills “found their guy” at QB. The Bills moved to 9-3 after this win and put the league on notice early on in the Sean McDermott-Josh Allen era.
Bills 31, Saints 6 (11/25/21)

The Bills dominated the Saints in New Orleans on Thanksgiving in 2021. Allen threw for four touchdowns, and Stefon Diggs led the team with 74 receiving yards. McDermott’s defense held the Saints to an egregious 3.3 yards per play on offense. The downside to this game was the Tre’Davious White ACL injury which started the downfall of his time in Buffalo.
Bills 31, Rams 10 (9/8/2022)

The Bills opened the season with a bang by crushing the Super Bowl winning Rams on the NFL’s opening night in LA. The Bills’ defense dominated this one as they forced Matt Stafford to throw three crucial interceptions. Josh Allen had 353 total yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Von Miller’s first game in Buffalo was spectacular as he had two sacks and three tackles for loss.
Bills 28, Lions 25 (11/24/22)

Much like the Bills showed the world what was about to come for their franchise with their Thanksgiving game in 2019, the Lions showed what they were capable of this particular turkey day. The Bills needed an all-time throw from Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs on the final drive to set up a Tyler Bass game-winner to win it at Ford Field in Detroit.

This was another dominant performance from McDermott, Allen, and the Bills. They moved to 9-3 after a road win at Gillette Stadium, running over 20 more plays than the Patriots and nearly doubling the Patriots’ time of possession. The Bills were in kneel-down mode before the two minute warning in the fourth.

Just looking at the team stats, the Bills dominated in many categories, but a couple of mistakes let the Bucs hang around on this fall night in Buffalo. The Buc had a chance to win with a hail mary but it fell to the ground. Allen posted 391 total yards and 3 touchdowns, and Khalil Shakir gave us a glimpse of what he is capable of by catching all six targets for 92 yards.

The latest rendition of the Bills dominating a Thursday night game was a divisional game at Miami. The defense stifled Tua Tagovailoa and the Phins’ offense, and Bills running back James Cook was able to run the ball effectively and put up three total touchdowns. The Bills moved to 2-0 and took control over the division heading into the Sunday slate of games.
