The Rams waived Russ Yeast on Saturday
Sean McVay’s rapid roster change-ups continue, as the Los Angeles Rams waived safety Russ Yeast on Saturday to make room for defensive back Cam Lampkin. Yeast, a seventh round pick in 2022 out of Kansas State, has appeared in 33 games with the Rams and started nine games in 2023. He had 61 tackles and five pass deflections in those games.
Ahead of Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Cardinals, the Rams also activated offensive lineman Justin Dedich and tight end Nikola Kalinic from the practice squad.

Cam Lampkin went undrafted out of Washington State this year. He signed with the Rams and was kept on the practice squad going into the season. Lampkin must have impressed coaches because he is now taking Yeast’s spot on the 53-man roster. If no team claims Yeast on waivers, he could revert back to the Rams practice squad. The calling up of an offensive lineman makes sense for Sunday given L.A.’s injury concerns on that unit.
