The Colts have made some moves ahead of their week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Indianapolis Colts today announced they had elevated DE Genard Avery and S Ronnie Harrison Jr. to the active 53 man roster from the practice squad for Sunday’s week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Defensive end Genard Avery was signed to the team’s practice squad in late August of this year. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Colts in June 2023 but landed on injured reserve in August 2023. Avery being elevated from the practice squad provides cover at defensive end for the team and also allows Tyquan Lewis and Dayo Odeyingbo to move around more along the defensive line. However, it does not bode well for Kwity Paye’s availability for Sunday. Paye has been dealing with a hamstring injury all week and has caused him to miss two practices, he is currently questionable for the game.
Safety Ronnie Harrison was signed to the team’s practice squad earlier this week but was also with the team during this year’s training camp. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Colts in August 2023. Harrison being elevated and Julian Blackmon being ruled out likely means he is in line to start next to Nick Cross at safety. If he does start then expect him to line up predominantly the strong safety position with Cross moving to the free safety position.
