Giants, Daniel Jones need to bounce back. Game vs. Commanders provides golden opportunity | The Athletic
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has a 5-1-1 record in seven career starts against the Commanders. He has a 17-36 record in 53 starts against all other opponents. Ten of his 62 career touchdown passes have come against Washington.
Jones will now be facing a scheme orchestrated by new Commanders coach Dan Quinn, who was the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for the previous three seasons. Jones went 0-4 against the Cowboys with Quinn as DC. Quinn’s personnel in Washington isn’t nearly as strong as it was in Dallas, but he figures to deploy the same looks that gave Jones so much trouble in the past three seasons.
Barkley to Jones: Let it rip
Saquon Barkley said he reached out to former teammate Daniel Jones following Jones’ tough outing in the Giants’ opener.

Daniel Jones won’t have Giants job for long if he can’t get ball to Malik Nabers | New York Post
Asked about balancing patience with wanting the ball in his hands, Nabers said, “The game is not going to always go how I want it to go. If I can have the ball in my hand 20 times, I would like that. But how many times the ball gets thrown my way, I can’t tell you how many times I’m going to get the ball this game.’’
Malik Nabers and Jayden Daniels: College teammates now NFL rivals | The Record
Nabers and Daniels will be on opposite sidelines Sunday afternoon at Northwest Stadium, the building formerly known as FedEx Field, when the Giants visit the Commanders, both in desperate need of a victory that would rid themselves of the bad taste from disappointing Week 1 losses.
“We’re going to talk smack when we play on the field,” Nabers said. “But off the field, it’s a brotherly relationship.”
Dabs’ Digest: Week 2 conversation with Coach Brian Daboll | Giants.com
Q: You just answered one of my questions, because the DBs have said Nubin is a very vocal guy, and it seems like he has already assumed a leadership role.
DABOLL: “I’ve talked to him about that these past couple weeks, because he is very vocal. And he’s smart. He communicates well on the back end. He’s tough. He’s got good traits in terms of bringing people along with him and leading. It’s good to have that as a rookie. I’d say Nabers is the same way.”
Brian Burns on what has to be better in Week 2

32 Thoughts Ahead of NFL Week 2 | Bleacher Report
New York Giants: How much more time will they give Daniel Jones after that train-wreck return to action? If he struggles again in Washington in Week 2, I’ll bet they roll with Drew Lock in Week 3. In fact, at this rate, that could easily be a matchup between Lock and Jameis Winston in Cleveland.
This week’s opponent
Assessing Jayden Daniels’ Rookie of the Week-winning performance | PFF
While Daniels’ 65.4% completion percentage is a solid figure, the Commanders weren’t asking him to make too many difficult throws, as his average depth of target in Week 1 was just 5.5 yards, ahead of only Daniel Jones among starting quarterbacks. To make matters worse, only 14.1% of Daniels’ passing yardage came through the air; the other 85.9% of it was after-the-catch yards from his receivers. The next lowest air yardage rate belonged to Tua Tagovailoa, who more than doubled Daniels, at 29.4%.
Five keys to Washington getting a home win over New York | Commanders.com
The Buccaneers brought constant pressure on Jayden Daniels in Week 1, resulting in two sacks. Daniels was able to evade the pressure on several snaps, but it resulted in him carrying the ball 16 times which is not a consistent formula for success. The Giants will likely not rush as much as the Buccaneers, but their front is talented enough to get to Daniels on its own.
