Can the Miami Dolphins get an early lead in AFC East with win against Bills?
The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins will kickoff Week 2 on Thursday Night Football in an all-important AFC East matchup. Last season, the Bills stole the AFC East title from the Dolphins late in the year. A matchup in Week 2 will be an opportunity for either side to get an early edge in the division.
Last season, the Dolphins looked to have a command on the AFC East until they collapsed late and ended up with a wild card spot instead. The Dolphins completely shutout the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second half last week to come out ahead, 20-17. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for 338 yards and a touchdown in the win. Tyreek Hill also added 130 receiving yards and one touchdown on seven receptions. The Dolphins could be short-handed at running back on Thursday Night with De’Von Achane questionable and Raheem Mostert out.
Meanwhile, the Bills came back from a 17-3 deficit against the Arizona Cardinals to start the year with a win. Without Stefon Diggs, the Bills offense took time to get going, but rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman led the way with four receptions for 51 yards.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook the Dolphins will be 2.5 point favorites entering Thursday Night’s division matchup. The Dolphins haven’t beaten the Bills since 2022. However, that game was also played in Miami in September. Miami won that game 21-19. Mike McDaniel will likely look to test the Bills secondary in the passing game. While they held up last week against the Cardinals, Miami will be a big test. This could end up being a higher scoring game, but the Dolphins should have the edge at home.
Prediction: Dolphins -2.5
Season Record: 2-1
