Week 2 kicks off with quality AFC East matchup
It’s an AFC East showdown to start Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. The undefeated Bills take on the undefeated Dolphins. Sean McDermott and the Bills had defeated Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins in every matchup since 2022 (when McDaniel became Miami’s head coach); one of the wins was in the playoffs of the 2022 season, where the Bills won 34-31. The Bills have won 11 of the last 12 matchups.
Both quarterbacks are coming off exceptional Week 1 performances. Josh Allen took the game over against the Cardinals to earn a tight victory. He finished with 232 passing yards, two touchdowns with his arm, and 39 yards rushing with two touchdowns on the ground. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir was his primary target; he had three catches for 42 yards with a score.
Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa passed for 338 yards with a long touchdown to Tyreek Hill in Week 1. Hill finished with 130 yards receiving on seven catches, and Jaylen Waddle finished with 109 receiving yards on five catches.
Defensively, Calais Campbell of the Dolphins recorded two tackles for a loss and a sack last week against Jacksonville. Jaelan Phillips also had a sack. Defensive end Greg Rousseau had a career-high three sacks last week against Arizona, and Von Miller recorded his first sack since the 2022 season. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver also has a sack in two of his past three games against Miami.
