Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jaylen Wright will look to step up in Mostert’s absence.
The Miami Dolphins will be without one of their starting running backs for Thursday Night’s primetime battle vs. the Buffalo Bills.
According to Coach McDaniel, who spoke with the media during his afternoon press conference, Raheem Mostert is officially OUT for Miami’s week two matchup vs. Buffalo. Last week vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mostert carried the ball six times for 9 yards and added two receptions for 10 yards.
On the other hand, second-year running back De’Von Achane is listed as a game-time decision — or, as McDaniel said, “we will see how it plays out.” But with both backs on yesterday’s injury report as Did Not Participate, the Dolphins may be better off protecting Achane and utilizing Jeff Wilson Jr. and the rookie Jaylen Wright.
After all, I thought Wilson ran hard last week vs. Jacksonville, carrying the ball five times for 26 yards. His timing could not have been more perfect either, as he got more involved late in the game with precious seconds to churn off the clock.
And Wright, well, Wright looks like a game-wrecker based on what he did in preseason alone. I’d love to see him get some touches vs. the Bills. He’s a proper three-down back and can bring a different element to the backfield than some other guys.
if there’s one thing i learned this pre-szn it’s that i don’t have enough shares of jaylen wright in fantasy football. #datboigood #gofins pic.twitter.com/pHK8xkbUF1

That said, even with a loaded running back room, it’s #nogood that Miami’s starters are already showing up on the injury report — and missing games — two weeks into the season.
Because, as we all know, it’s not necessarily what the Dolphins do at the beginning of the year that counts. It’s how they finish the year — well into the month of January.
