Vikes Views: Nincompoop of the Week

Vikes Views: Nincompoop of the Week

The Minnesota Vikings destroyed the New York Giants this past Sunday. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some nincompoops in purple.

CJ Ham – Ham took a dump off pass on 3rd and long and fumbled it. It was meant to gain a cheap 7-10 yards and punt the ball. Ham played 34.5% of the snaps in a game where the team lead most of the game. He might see less time in a closer game when they’re not trying to run out the clock.

Garett Bradbury – Bradbury was manhandled all day. I say he’s the nincompoop, but maybe it’s Kwesi and KOC for putting him back out there. Dexter Lawrence is going to make a lot of centers look bad, but Bradbury was an embarrassment. 4 pressures allowed in Darnold’s face. That includes the pressure that caused the Darnold interception in the 3rd quarter. He added a holding penalty to start the 2nd drive of the game.

Ed Ingram – Ingram is outmatched every week he steps on the field. PFF gave him a pass block grade of 9.3. He allowed 6 pressures. You can’t blame it solely on Bradbury, because Brandel had a great game. Ingram isn’t a starting caliber player, but the team has no one else with Dalton Risner on IR. Luckily Darnold was able to work around his incompetence this week.

Joe Schoen (Giants GM) – Joe decided to give Daniel Jones a massive contract extension after one slightly better than average season and a playoff win against the Vikings. 4 years for $160M with $92M guaranteed. He signed him like you would expect a team to do when they can’t think of losing him. Since signing that contract, Jones has thrown more TDs to the opposing team than his own (3 Pick 6s to 2 TDs). They do have a potential out after this season. It would be a $22.2M dead cap hit.

Daniel Jones – Jones just isn’t improving. He seems to get worse year after year. The decision making is rookie level. He has all the physical tools to be a great quarterback. It’s painfully clear to everyone watching he isn’t a franchise QB.
