The NFL Week 1 slate of Sunday games will cap off with a Sunday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Rams on the road against the Detroit Lions.
The Rams lead the all-time series between these AFC teams, 45-40-1, and have won three of the four most recent matchups. They haven’t faced off in the regular season since 2021, when the Rams won at home in Los Angeles, 28-19. While the Rams have the lead in the regular season, the Lions are 2-0 against the Rams in the playoffs, most recently winning back in January during the wild card round, 24-23.
Los Angeles is a much different team than they were last season, most notably — but certainly not the only change — losing Aaron Donald to retirement. They’ve also faced a host of injuries and other uncertainties, and it’s hard to believe Jared Goff is void of all negative feelings toward his former team, so the Rams are my pick for the SNF win.
