Sunday afternoon reference material.

The first Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season is here!

Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the remaining Week 1 games.

NFC EAST

MINNESOTA VIKINGS at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Giants probably aren’t going to be good. If that’s the case, it’d be nice to see them actually win some games so they don’t get the No. 1 pick to draft Daniel Jones’ replacement. For now, though, the Eagles will want to see them lose to ensure they’re not a threat in the division. Root for the Vikings.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: To ensure the Commanders aren’t a threat in the division, the Eagles will want to see them lose. Additional incentive: the Eagles own the Commanders’ 2025 fifth-round pick. Root for the Buccaneers.

DALLAS COWBOYS at CLEVELAND BROWNS: The Cowboys enter the season as the Eagles’ biggest threat to win the NFC East. Always great to see them lose. Root for the Browns.

DRAFT PICK WATCH

LOS ANGELES RAMS at DETROIT LIONS: The Eagles own the Lions’ fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It’s also not hard to make the case that the Lions are the bigger threat in this game to the Eagles when it comes to aiming for the No. 1 seed in the NFC Playoff Picture. Root for the Rams.

HOUSTON TEXANS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Eagles own the Texans’ fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Best to root for that selection to be as favorable as possible, even though Houston figures to be a pretty good team. Root for the Colts.

NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE

PITTSBURGH STEELERS at ATLANTA FALCONS: AFC team over NFC team. Although you could argue the Falcons will be more desperate when they play the Eagles in Week 2 if they lose here. Root for the Steelers.

ARIZONA CARDINALS at BUFFALO BILLS: AFC team over NFC team. Plus, not going to be mad if Jonathan Gannon loses. Root for the Bills.

TENNESSEE TITANS at CHICAGO BEARS: AFC team over NFC team. Plus, the Eagles will want to see a non-Texans team win the AFC South. Root for the Titans.

CAROLINA PANTHERS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The Saints seem to be like the bigger threat in the NFC, though it’s quite possible neither team is very good. Root for the Panthers.

DENVER BRONCOS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Broncos.

NEW YORK JETS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: AFC team over NFC team. Especially when the 49ers figure to be a threat to the Eagles in the NFC playoff picture. Root for the Jets.

WHAT’S LEFT

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: We’re thinking really far ahead with this one but the thought here is that it’d be preferable to face Joe Burrow and the Bengals in the Super Bowl over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. And Burrow might be one of the only quarterbacks who can beat Mahomes in the playoffs. Root for the Bengals.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at MIAMI DOLPHINS: The Eagles will want to see a non-Texans team win the AFC South. Go Dougie P! Root for the Jaguars.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: The Raiders might be in No. 1 pick contention? Would rather see them get it than the Giants. Root for the Chargers.
