Prescott is now the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL
The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a massive four-year contract extension, per Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
The extension will pay Prescott a max of $240 million over the next four years ($60 million per year), with $231 million in guaranteed money. The Prescott and the Cowboys have effectively re-set the quarterback market in the first week of the 2024 NFL season.
Prescott’s long-term status has been one of the major questions facing the Cowboys — and the NFL in general — throughout the offseason. He quarterbacked the Cowboys to the NFL’s top scoring offense in 2023, leading the NFL in both points scored and in passing touchdowns. He was also the second most efficient quarterback in the NFL, trailing only Brock Purdy in EPA and Completion Percentage Over Expected.
Prescott, 31, has been a thorn in the New York Giants side since the Cowboys drafted him in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He was considered by some to be a possible option for the Giants if they were in search of a quarterback after the 2024 season. Instead, Prescott will be a Cowboy until 2028 and his age 35 season.
