Could 1 of surprises of training camp make an impact this season?
Wide receiver/returner Tyreik McAllister was one of the surprise picks to the Las Vegas Raiders’ initial 53-man roster
Let’s look at what to expect from McAllister in the 2024 NFL season:
Size:
5-11, 180 pounds.
Previous playing experience:
McAllister, 26, played at Charleston and he was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent some team on their practice squad that season and was cut by Denver the following spring. He spent the 2023 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. McAllister led the league in returning yards and all-purpose yards.
Why he made the team:
McAllister showed improvement as training camp went on and he had a huge final preseason game against San Francisco with a punt return for a score and a long touchdown pass play in which he lashed his big speed.
What he offers Raiders in 2024:
For now he’s not guaranteed of being on the active game-day roster. But his big-play potential is tempting and the team could find ways to use him, especially on special teams early in the season.
Best-case 2024 scenario:
He is part of the playing rotation and he is option both on offense and on special teams as a dynamic kick and punt returner.
